Cake for Breakfast? Yes please!

A new breakfast to try with the kids

No doubt you’ve seen the trending baked oats on tiktok or Instagram, well here’s our version. A perfect breakfast option as the weather starts to cool down and you can have it on the go too!

Ingredients: 

1/2 cup of oats
1 teaspoon of baking powder
1 heaped tablespoon of protein powder or peanut butter
1/2 a banana or 1/2 cup of unsweetened fruit puree (e.g. apple)
1/2 cup of reduced-fat milk of your choice
1/2 teaspoon of vanilla essence or paste (optional)
A handful of frozen berries
A sprinkle of dark chocolate (optional but who wouldn’t!)

Method: 

  1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees celsius.
  2. Add all ingredients (except berries and chocolate) to your blender. Blend until smooth.
  3. Pour into a oven-safe cooking dish. Sprinkle with berries and chocolate.
  4. Bake for 30 minutes until risen and golden on top.
  5. Enjoy 

 

Other flavour combos to try: 

Peanut butter and banana  

Replace the blueberries with some slices of banana and a tablespoon of peanut butter. And add a sprinkle of cinnamon before baking! 

Apple cinnamon 

Replace blueberries with half a small apple, cubed, and add a sprinkle of cinnamon before baking.  

Mango and coconut 

Replace blueberries with half a small mango, cubed, and add a sprinkle of coconut flakes before baking.
